Use Text to 3D when you're exploring from imagination and iteration speed matters more than matching a specific reference original props, characters without existing concept art, decor. Use Image to 3D when a design already exists and fidelity to it is the goal. They combine well: generate concepts by text, then image-convert your favourite refined sketch for the final asset.
Almost always prompt length and specificity. "A chair" gives the AI no material, style or proportion to work with, so it defaults to the most statistically average chair. Add material ("walnut wood"), style ("mid-century modern") and any proportion cues, and results sharpen dramatically see the weak-vs-strong examples above.
For rigging purposes, generate in A-pose or T-pose (Meshy 6 supports pose control directly) standard poses rig far more reliably than dynamic ones. For a specific dramatic pose in the final render, generate the character standing neutrally, rig and animate it, then pose the rig don't fight the generator for a complex pose it wasn't built to nail directly.
